Becoming Beautifully: Doing Life While It’s Still Uncertain
Delivered at St Mary’s DSG, Pretoria to 156 Grade 10 and Grade 11 learners, this talk focused on the hidden pressures many high-performing young women carry, including perfectionism, comparison, academic stress, anxiety, and burnout. The session explored what it means to grow through uncertainty rather than waiting to feel fully ready, introducing the idea of “doing life scared” while offering practical, evidence-based tools drawn from cognitive behavioural and dialectical behavioural approaches to support emotional regulation, reduce avoidance, build self-compassion, and navigate adolescence with greater flexibility and resilience.
Love vs Obsession: Understanding Healthy and Unhealthy Attachment
As a guest on The Morning Cruise with Thando “Oli” Msiza on Unisa Radio, this conversation unpacked the difference between healthy love and unhealthy attachment. The discussion focused on helping listeners recognise when intensity, reassurance-seeking, or emotional dependence may signal attachment insecurity rather than connection, while also redefining what healthy connection looks like through mutual respect, emotional safety, autonomy, and the ability to maintain both closeness and individuality.
