AREA OF EXPERTISE
Trauma-informed care.
Trauma can shape how you feel in your body, how safe the world seems, and how you relate to yourself and others. Trauma-informed therapy focuses on safety, choice, and steadiness — helping your nervous system settle and restoring a sense of control, dignity, and trust in your own experience.
COMMON SIGNS
When your system is still stuck in survival mode.
Trauma responses can be obvious or subtle, and they can show up long after the original events. Common experiences include:
- Feeling constantly “on edge”, watchful, or easily startled
- Intrusive memories, flashbacks, nightmares, or distressing images
- Avoidance of reminders, places, people, or emotions linked to the past
- Emotional numbness, shutdown, or feeling disconnected from yourself
- Strong body reactions (tight chest, racing heart, nausea, shaking)
- Sleep disruption, fatigue, or difficulty concentrating
- Intense shame, self-blame, or feeling “broken” or unsafe inside
- Relationship difficulties, mistrust, or fear of conflict and closeness
Trauma-informed care is not about forcing you to “re-live” what happened. It’s about moving at a pace that feels safe, strengthening your capacity to cope in the present, and helping your system learn that danger is no longer here.
